About the Author:
S.M. Best was raised in the upper Midwest. He attended high school in Ohio and Minnesota, then spent two years in the U.S. Army, where he was awarded the Joint Service Commendation medal for his work in military intelligence. After a twelve month tour of duty in Vietnam, he returned home, attended college, and then worked for twenty years in the health field. Although forced to retire due to disability, Best has written When Philosophers Were Kings using Dragon Naturally Speaking's premiere, voice-recognition software, a project which involved seven years of writing and research. He currently resides with his wife and two youngest children in the Southeastern United States.
